Dr. Angela Burda was named Fellow at the 2013 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Annual Convention in Chicago. Dr. Burda was nominated by Dr. Deb Hwa-Froelich, a long-time colleague at Saint Louis University. Dr. Burda is being recognized in part for her contributions to the Iowa Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Executive Board, serving as its current Past President. In addition, her research provided evidence that older adults and persons with communication disorders can have differences understanding accented speech, which was cited in the ASHA Professionals Issues Statement on educating students with accented speech. Congratulations, Dr. Burda!
